The call
When a feeder trips or a substation loses a bus, a protection or operations engineer reconstructs the event: what the relays saw, what operated and in what order, whether that was correct, and what caused it. We are acquiring these analyses from distribution and transmission utilities and from the consultancies that work for them.
Relay event records and oscillography may be referenced but are not required.
What qualifies
- Investigations of outages that occurred, 2018 onward
- A stated cause and corrective action
- Authored by a protection, planning or operations engineer
What is excluded
- Events under regulatory investigation
- Reports that identify critical infrastructure locations below the substation-name level
- Storm restoration summaries without a cause finding
De-identification
Utility, customer and personnel names replaced. Substation and feeder names replaced with codes. Equipment ratings and settings may stay.
Review
Read by a licensed power systems engineer.
Rights
Full license transferred to Gridfile at acceptance. Firm agreement required.
